With Harry Potter’s last installment over with and the latest round of
Marvel movies exiting theaters everywhere, we’re wondering if there’s
anything to look forward to for the rest of the year!
The good news is that we have had lots of movies in 2011, so we have lots of designs to analyze. For decades, the big marketing mogul of movies has been posters. So what’s been happening? Here’s a look at some trends we’ve spotted over the course of the year.

The Montage is Gone

There are TONS of Marvel movies out! As such, they are trend-setters and have a consistent, branded look they have created which tends to lean towards the high-contrast, HDR style:Simple is Back
A final trend that stuck out is the simple look. Many movies opted for an early version of their posters with simple designs — often only a stylized logo.2011 had some interesting trends in movie poster design! What trends have you spotted?
