A flood of HTML5 video plugins has become available in the past few
months for WordPress 3.0, as HTML5 video is rapidly becoming the new
standard for showing videos online. When the iPad came out in April 2010
with no support for Flash, sites that wanted to cater to the iPad and
other mobile devices started serving HTML5 video. WordPress users have
plenty of options for HTML5 video and audio plugins and many plugins
also provide Flash or Silverlight fallback players, in case a visitor
has a non-HTML5 browser.
MediaElement.js
is an HTML5 video and audio player with Flash fallback. It supports IE,
Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome and iPhone, iPad, Android. It’s got many
audio and video shortcodes for easy use within posts and pages.
