How To Make a Website 7 Important Steps to Make Money Online

Before I get you into the matter  “How to Make a Website?”, A question arises for beginners that “Why to Make a Website?”. Let me clear it for you, we will start it with some attractive quotes like ‘Have you ever wished about a real and easy way to make free money in Internet, even if you have absolutely no experience? About online work at home?’
We have good news….then!

Getting interest?… Ahh, I was just trying to entertain you as per it’s a part of my job.  Lets jump into the central matter for what we are here. You’re on your way to learning how to make a website you’ll love, the easiest way possible! I’ll walk you through the whole process of your first website creation:
What we needs:
  • Domain Name (Ex: www.yourdomain.com)
  • Hosting Provider
  • Designing Your Website
  • Website Planning
  • Promotion & SEO
  • Look For Sponsors (Ex: Google Adsense)
  • Maintenance
1. Register your domain name:
If you already have registered a domain name then skip this step or find a domain name that is easy to remember and spell, if you use domains ending with .com, you will end up with more traffic. But remember to get creative! There are plenty of domain name providers.  I will recommend you to register it with Godaddy.
2. Hosting Provider:
Hosting is where you put your website and all the Web pages. While it’s possible to build a website on your personal computer and never move it online, it’s somewhat pointless. No one but you will ever be able to see it. So the first thing you’ll want to do is find a Web hosting provider.
There are several types of Web hosting options you can choose from:
  • Free Web hosts
  • Standard Web hosting
  • Dedicated, Virtual, and Shared Hosting
  • Colocation
Most people gravitate to free Web hosting without too much thought, but there can be drawbacks to free hosting. You don’t always get as much space, you might be required to run their ads on your site, or there may be bandwidth limits. Be sure to read all the fine print before you put your website on a free Web host. I recommend using free hosting providers for testing Web pages and for personal pages. So, Find a good Hosting Provider. links to other sites for help finding a good host, Read Reviews to find out what other users think and overviews of several hosting providers.
3.  Designing Your Website:
Note: One more point I will discuss here about the selected platform like Blogger, WordPress, Joomla or whatever you choose.  Get some personal surveys on this and decide to select the perfect one according to your appearance.
Possibly the hardest step in learning how to make a website is deciding what it is you want to create, and the message you want to send from your place on the web. For inspiration, Explore our gallery of fabulous user websites, all made with Wix. You can browse through sites designed in your particular niche, whether it’s a photography website, a business website, an artist or design portfolio, and more.
Get a website-building program and do it yourself. While this might work for your dried bug page, if you are unsure of your design eye and ability, then it’s probably not the best choice if you’re trying to make a sharp, professional impression (especially if you’re trying to get people to part with their money).
Or Alternatively you can choose any of disscussed platform and purchase suitable template or theme for your domain. There are many free sources available for themes and templates. Somewhere If you are using WordPress then this may help you Free WordPress Themes. Thousands of themes are available here related to every niche and designs. Just grab it your self.
4. Website Planning:
Once you’ve gotten a domain and decided on your URL, you can start planning your site. You need to decide:
  • Type of site – Most websites are either news/information, product, or reference sites. As such they each have a slightly different focus.
  • Navigation – The navigation affects the information architecture of your site.
  • Content – Content is the actual pages you’ll be building.
5. Promotion & SEO:
The easiest way to promote your website is through search engine optimization or SEO. You build your Web content so that it ranks well in search engines. This can be very difficult, but it is inexpensive and can result in good results if you work at it.
Other ways to promote your site include: Social Media and advertising. You can attract visitors to your website by using many social media platforms like: Stumble Upon, Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Digg, Delicious and many more. Create your profile in some of these Social Media platforms and promote your website regularly. You will receive instant results.
6. Look For Sponsors:
Now you have a website! But how to get paid via your self-made website? Means now we have need of sponsors. Here is one waiting for you : Subscribe with Google Adsense.
7. Maintenance:
Website is like a good hobby for bloggers but you can’t get all the things interesting in your game. This can be the most boring part of website design, but in order to keep your site going well and looking good, you need to do it. Testing your site as you’re building it and then after it’s been live for a while is important. And you should also work on content development on a regular basis.
Note: To track you daily performance subscribe into Google Analytics Online software provided by Google. there are many other third-party Analytic providers are available but I will strongly recommend this.
Here we have done! Just keep on working with your new loving website and keep me updated about our short time journey for How to Make a Website? ;)

Recycling and animating icons with CSS

In the not so distant past, we were learning about revolutionary techniques to save HTTP Request and KBs alike through the use of image sprites. These sprites consisted of tens or even hundreds of icons arranged in an image file that was later spliced and served in a variety of ways throughout a website.
We’ve made good use of the technique, and virtually every site concerned with scalability employs it.
Thanks to the advent of CSS3’s Transform and Transition properties, we can take this a step further, and using a few concise lines of code, transform base icon templates into new icons for future use – and even throw animation into the mix for an added bonus!
The technique is as simple and intuitive as was image sprites, and allows use to rapidly deploy new icons without ever having to alter the image sprites.

Recycling icons with CSS

Take a look at this sprite taken from the jQuery UI library. As you browse through, you’ll notice that many of the icons listed here are actually variations on base templates. A single icon could be represented in a dozen different ways, and placed in the same file. Many icons are literally just rotated versions of their parents. The good news is while utilizing CSS we can employ the exact same technique without having to include the variations in the image sprite.

From the example above, we can take a single icon and recreate it for our own purposes, say a simple chevron from the second row down. With the transform property, we are able to rotate this chevron 45deg, 90deg, 180deg, obviously and indefinitely to create many different forms from the same template.

Base template (up arrow):

The following code will pull the chevron facing up from the image sprite, and will serve as our base template.
.icon {
 width: 20px;
 height: 20px;
 display: block;
 background: url('sprite.png') no-repeat -20px 0;
 }
upArrow

Create right arrow

Transforming our arrow 90deg will point the arrow to the right, as show below:
-webkit-transform: rotate(90deg);
 -moz-transform: rotate(90deg);
 transform: rotate(90deg);
rightArrow

Create top-right arrow

Rotate it just 45deg and you get a nice little top-right corner arrow:
-webkit-transform: rotate(45deg);
 -moz-transform: rotate(45deg);
 transform: rotate(45deg);
topRightArrow
It’s that simple. Using this method, we can start with a simple two icon sprite, and with very little effort create six times as many icons for use in our interface, which of course is just the beginning of what can be done.
A few transforms, some fancy positioning, and our icon family has grown quite a bit!

Adding animation to the mix

For a killer experience, we can add animation into the mix. Not only will we transform the icons, we’ll transition them to make the transformation visible to the user. Lets take a look at another example, starting with the plus sign seen above.
.icon {
 width: 20px;
 height: 20px;
 display: block;
 background: url('sprite.png') no-repeat 0 0;
 }
plusIcon
One easy 45deg rotation will transform our plus icon into a handy close icon.
.icon {
 -webkit-transform: rotate(45deg);
 -moz-transform: rotate(45deg);
 transform: rotate(45deg);
 }
closeIcon
Now that our transformation is working correctly, we can add a transition into the mix. Imagine you have a feature on your site to share the current page through a variety of social networks. Clicking the plus icon will open the list of share options, and while the list is opening, the plus transitions into a close icon through a subtle animation. The best implementation I’ve found for this is on FontBook’s iPad app. Check out their implementation:
FontBookiPad
It’s stellar. Let’s take a look at how to make this beauty come to life. Start by using our plus icon created above. To animate it, simply add the transition property into your icon. In our transition, we specify the property (transform), the duration (0.2s), and finally what timing function we want to use (linear).
.icon {
 width: 20px;
 height: 20px;
 display: block;
 background: url('sprite.png') no-repeat 0 0;
 -webkit-transition: -webkit-transform 0.2s linear;
 -moz-transition: -moz-transform 0.2s linear;
 transition: transform 0.2s linear;
 cursor: pointer;
 }
Again, it’s that simple. Not only can we create new icons for our library with only CSS, we can animate and give life to any particular element!

Using opacity for more variety

The final piece of icon recycling comes to play in the form of the opacity property. Duplicating your core icons for black and white will allow you to generate an infinite number of shades / variants for use all over your site or application.
A four-image variant (as seen below) of the sprite above could easily be used to create a dozen times as many icons, and by increasing or decreasing the opacity you can place them wherever needed, and still have them look great.
fullSpriteInverted

It’s time to go green: recycle with CSS

As CSS3 has gained traction, my copy of Photoshop CS5 has started to gather dust, and for good reason! This technique of recycling your icons allows you to continuously deploy new versions and variants to your interfaces without having to open up source files and add cumbersome icons to ever-expanding sprites.
Maintenance time goes down, and your time spent reading books like the 4 Hour Work Week goes up! It’s all gold.
Of course the most obvious downside to all this is browser support, however, with the recent push by, well, everyone to use modern browsers, we will be able to take advantage of new and exciting progressive techniques. Feel free to browse some examples of this technique.

What are some other ways you’ve been able to recycle your website’s assets?

Mastering Flickr: A Practical Guide

previewFlickr is probably the most famous of all photo communities on the web.
It’s a place where photographers from all over the world come together, share their work and admire the work of others.
Flickr however, like any other social network, has its own economy and social conventions.
There are professionals, celebrities, enthusiasts, beginners, networkers, the list goes on.
In today’s post we’ll cover main strategies which you can use to get the most out of Flickr if you’re trying to make a name for yourself.

Mastering The Basics

1
The first thing to do on Flickr is (obviously) to upload your own work. While Flickr is primarily used as a community for photographers, there are also thriving sub-communities of graphic designers, videographers and illustrators. The purpose of the community is to share your own work with others; uploading is at the core of that. For the sake of argument, however, I’ll refer to uploaded work as ‘photos’ for the remainder of this article.
A community wouldn’t be much of a community without some form of interaction between its members. Flickr has a commenting system much like that of a blog. People can visit your photos and leave comments. Equally you can also visit theirs and comment or favorite whatever they have uploaded.
Flickr ‘Sets’ are a way of organizing your photos. You can do this however you feel like really, whether that be grouping them by subject, theme, or event. The most common use by far of set is to organize photos by theme or subject rather than event. People will typically create sets such as portraits, strangers, landscapes, black and white, HDR and so on.
Flickr ‘Collections’ are simply the next step up from Sets. Think of it like your computer: Sets are files which contain photographs, and Collections are folders which contain files. Sets group photos and collections group sets. In this way you can sort your Sets and further categorize them.

Mastering Groups

2
Groups are the real backbone of the Flickr community. Groups are essentially like public Sets which everyone can add to. Groups allow photographers to come together and pool their photographs based around a common theme. In this way people who might never have previously had a reason to meet can interact and learn from each other.
For aspiring photographers the equipment groups are particularly interesting. If you’re thinking about getting a new camera, a new lens, a new flash or a new light modifier then there’s probably a Flickr group dedicated to it. Being able to check out hundreds, sometimes thousands, of photos which have been taken with a piece of equipment you’re thinking of investing in is a truly fantastic research resource. In addition, if you do then buy the camera/lens/whatever – you can upload your own shots to the group and help those following in your footsteps or get inspiration from others using the same equipment.
Style based groups are also very popular. These groups encompass things such as beautiful bokeh, black & white, abstract and so on. They cover various styles of photography and are all-inclusive regardless of equipment used or the subject of the photograph. Again, if you’re trying to learn a particular style of photography then these groups can be incredibly useful and you can meet other people with the same interests.
The final most popular type of group is the subject based group. Subject based groups cover things such as nature, food, travel, sport, nudes, colors and people. These groups aren’t so much about the photograph but rather about what is in the photograph. What story is the image telling the user? What’s going on in the frame?
Making use of Flickr’s groups are one of the most important ways to get ahead. Groups are where most of Flickr’s community spend their time browsing, checking out other people’s photographs and commenting on them. Groups are a vital aspect both to improve your own skills and to grow your profile within the community.

Mastering Flickr Like a Pro

3
With a standard account on Flickr you can do a fair amount but your account is pretty limited. If you want to move up in the world, and in the community, then you really need to invest in a Pro Account.
At $24.95 for a whole year, this is hardly a bank breaking prospect, and well worth every penny. Pro accounts give you a “Pro” badge by your  user name all over the site (meaning other users take your slightly more seriously, regardless of whether that’s right or wrong), but more importantly: the monthly upload limits of your account are removed and you get access to detailed statistics. Think of the stats like a mini Google Analytics for Flickr, they show you how many views you’re getting, where they’re coming from and which of your photos are proving to be the most popular.
As with building a blog, a website, or a twitter profile: monitoring your stats is important to understand what’s working and what isn’t.

Mastering Explore

4
The Explore section of Flickr is where the big boys come out to play. If you really want to start getting recognized or noticed in the community then this is the area that you really need to understand.
Flickr Explore is the name given to the 500 most interesting photos selected each and every day by Flickr’s (top secret) “interestingness” algorithm. These automatically grouped photos are then thrust right to the forefront of the site and are viewed by thousands of people every day. Getting one of your photos ‘Explored’ is a sure-fire way to build your reputation.
So the obvious question that arises here is “How does the algorithm work?” – well, that’s the million dollar question. The specifics of the algorithm are kept secret by Flickr staff so as to prevent abuse from people who want to cheat the system. That being said, the very basics of the algorithm are made clear.
The main factors contributing to the “interestingness” algorithm are views, comments, favorites, and time. Essentially you want as many of the first three factors as you can get and as little of the last one as possible. A couple of hundred views, comments and favorites within a few hours will almost certainly get your photo Explored.
The same number of views, comments and favorites over the course of a week or two… probably won’t go very far at all. Other possible factors include who favorites or comments on your photos – someone with many contacts favoriting your photo potentially has more influence than someone who is very new to Flickr. Once we get to this level, however, we are relying on speculation.
To an extent, making it onto Explore is a bit like making it onto Twitter’s recommended users list. For a short period of time you can propel yourself into public visibility which, as is the case with Twitter, leads to more followers – or in Flickr’s case: Contacts.

Mastering Getting Noticed

5
Getting noticed on Flickr and becoming better known as a photographer or artist consists of a few key areas of attention.
Uploading regularly is the first and most obvious one. Just like having a Twitter account, just like running a blog, just like anything in life. If you want to be good at it and you want to be known for it then you need to do it regularly.
A great way to do this on Flickr is to start something like a Project365, where you commit yourself to taking one photo each and every day for a full year. This challenging project is not only a great way to improve your photography skills but it also keeps you regularly producing new content for the community to consume.
Commenting regularly on other people’s photos is another essential item for your Flickr to-do list. If you want to receive comments on your own photos then it’s reasonable to assume that other people do too. It’s also pretty reasonable to assume that if you leave positive, helpful and constructive comments on someone else’s photos then they will be likely to reciprocate.
Commenting on Flickr is about starting a conversation about a photograph and meeting new people. Often the first step to gaining new contacts is to comment on one of their photos. With the multitude of groups available to you, you’re sure to find a group with a whole host of photos which you find interesting enough to comment on.
As a side note to the previous point, please don’t use automated tools and browser plugins for favoriting and commenting. It goes down about as well as Auto-DM’s do on Twitter. There is no value at all in trying to automate human interactions!
One other small but significant thing to do is to make sure you fill out your profile in full. Add information about yourself, add a photo, make sure you have some favorites on your account which are showing up, try to tag yourself in other photos so that they also show up on your profile. These things make people more likely to add you as a contact.
Essentially, Flickr is just like anything else. It’s a tool, and how you use it is up to you – hopefully this article has simply helped you understand the tool better.
The best way to master Flickr is to engage with other people in the community and become friends with them. Not because you have to, but because you genuinely want to.

What strategies have you found to be really successful on Flickr? Are there any things in particular that you would really recommend not doing? Let us know in the comments below!

11 websites driven by powerful, dramatic photography

Photography is one of the most potent tools in the designer’s toolbox. It is no surprise that it is used all over the web.
And in the small subset of websites featured in this article, we find photography used very prominently.
The samples shown here focus so heavily on photography that you hardly notice the brands behind them.
In fact, some of the websites have no apparent branding at all, focusing instead on selling their products, which is actually a bit of a relief.
Let’s review how each of these websites leverage the power of photography.

1. NL Engenharia

Architectural firms typically focus on photography on their websites. On NL Engenharia, though, the photography pretty much takes over the entire website. And for good reason; it quickly communicates the style, quality and scale of the firm’s work. You immediately see the type of work this firm does. This weeds out visitors who wouldn’t immediately be interested in its style. Many less confident shops would not be willing to define themselves so narrowly, for fear of losing work.
When to use this approach
This approach is great because it focuses the business. This type of work will not interest everyone. In a way, the photography functions to pre-qualify visitors. It becomes a critical component in the sales funnel. The firm knows that anyone who makes contact will know exactly what it offers.

2. Afgn

The sole purpose of Afgn is to share the creator’s photographs with the world. The fantastically simple interface puts the photography at center stage. No need for an elaborate framework to display the photos; the overlay on the left gives all the context you need to understand them. And we are free to hide the overlay and view the full photos. I particularly love that this gallery eliminates the need for thumbnails; you start with a full-sized photo.
Lesson to learn
Sometimes, bringing the content right to the fore makes the best sense. This website shows how content can replace the need for a framework at all.

3. True Illusion

True Illusion is a studio that offers photography work, so naturally the content goes deeper in layers than the websites above. But I really love how the company still allows the photography to stand out; putting the work front and center like this is powerful. Don’t make people dig to find your work. Sell them on what you do from the moment they land on the website.
Cut to the chase
One of the most painful things is how many agencies make you dig for their portfolio. If your work is this delicious, make it easy for visitors to fall in love with it. You can sell the actual products later. This goes back to our idea of pre-qualifying visitors.

4. Driven

Driven is rather hard to pin down. Is it a blog? A magazine? A photo gallery? One thing it is not is normal. In showing off incredible cars through beautiful photography, this website breaks from your standard layout. Yes, there is text to go along with the visuals. But the photography of these incredible cars really drives the content (pun intended). The cars are so gorgeous, in fact, that you don’t need any special kind of photography to show them off.
Break the rules
Sometimes you can get away with disregarding the conventions of the web. It’s not easy and it won’t always work, but websites like this prove that risks can pay off. It also shows how eye-grabbing objects go a long way to smoothing over usability problems.

5. Clyde Quay Wharf

It should come as no surprise that photography plays a powerful role in selling real estate. On Clyde Quay Wharf, photography dominates the design. And why not? One look at the location and you can’t help but want to live there. Given that these apartments start at $1.3 million, the website has to do whatever it can to justify the price tag. Showing the unique location is a great approach in this case, at least to someone as unsavvy about real estate as me. After all, you can find beautiful apartments anywhere. Finding a location like this is much harder, and it gives the properties a distinctive air.
Focus on the unique
This design focuses on the unique selling point of this property: location. Find the most distinct selling point of your product, and hammer the message home. Without it, this would be yet another website selling yet another fancy apartment.

6. Grand Things

Photography instantly communicates information. Grand Things immediately sets a mood, using black and white photography to tell a story. It takes a bit of wording to set the stage, but the big dramatic photograph works flawlessly with the content, preparing the visitor for the subject.
Words help
As much as photography communicates, don’t leave too much to the imagination. Without the words, people would be rather helpless to understand the purpose of this website. Only a few words are needed, but they set the context for the photograph.

7. Moccabar

Photography can also be used to communicate ideas and information that can’t quite be captured in words. Consider Moccabar, a high-end bar. No amount of fancy marketing copy could ever communicate the particular style of this bar. In fact, on seeing the photos, even referring to this as a bar would be a stretch. The photographs immerse you in the location first and foremost. Inset photographs surrounded by text would not do the place justice.
What makes you special?
Some products and clients break the mold. Convincing people of as much can be hard, though. Photography can be the proof that shows that the client is more than a stereotype.

8. Peter McLeavey Gallery

Many galleries focus on their central location, their beautiful building or some other detail that they deem important. The Peter McLeavey Gallery puts the artwork front and center. Most customers don’t come to you because of the environment, as cool as it might be. By focusing entirely on the artwork, this website feels totally unique and memorable.
Lose your ego
Put yourself in the user’s shoes, and consider why they might be visiting the website. Prominent photography like this can support that purpose. Don’t focus on yourself or what you love about the company. Focus on what users want.

9. Awolnation

On the website for the band Awolnation, photography serves a singular purpose: to set a mood. The website focuses not so much on the band, as many other band websites do. Rather, it establishes a kitschy retro theme that adds to the band’s unique personality. The photography supports this, setting the mood with its sci-fi, retro-art aesthetic. Listen to some of the music and watch the video to see why the photography plays directly into the style of the band.
Set a mood
Photography doesn’t always have to be literal. It can merely set a mood. Getting the balance right can be difficult, but sometimes a pretty picture is just a pretty picture.

10. Cufflink Suite

Some products are just more exciting than others. And for the less-exciting ones, creative photography can make them seem more so. A website about cuff links might not seem to have much going for it. But when you land on Cufflink Suite, you get the feeling that you’re experiencing something exceptional. It is remarkable how the photograph completely changes your perception.
Go big
This photograph would not have nearly the same impact if it was small, in a nice little frame on a standard e-commerce page. Size and scale magically give a subject greater impact. I remember this from design school: when in doubt, make it bigger! (Except the logo.)

11. Handi Hikes

Handi Hikes uses big photographs to give context to its products. The market for travel guides is heavily saturated, but this company offers a personal touch by producing highly focused, highly functional hiking guides. The photographs in the background ensure that you understand what type of guides are for sale.
Provide context
The photographs here explain the context in which you would use these products. Consider how or where your product will be used. Photographs can serve as extensions of the product, communicating its purpose and benefits.
